We anxiously waited for tour season to begin and this week is start for the year.
First group starts their tour at Dzūkija national park, in southern Lithuania, with pine forests and open sand areas looking for grouse, so far we succeeded to find 12 Capercaillie females and 3 males as well as 5 females and 9 males Black Grouse. Also enjoying first spring backcomers such as Cranes, Redshanks, Woodcocks, Common Snipes, Ruffs, Green Sandpipers, some raptors as Hen and Marsh Harriers. Also found Brambling and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. And as the last sign of winter we heard Waxwings. Next destination will be Žuvintas biosphere reserve and Meteliai regional park with flocks of Geese and other open landscape, wetlands and water birds. Stay tuned for updates.
